Open Source Events
OS Events is an organization providing technical events for professionals that are directly involved with developing solutions using Open Source technology.
Challenge
Open Source Events recently went through a name change and required a fresh new brand including to reflect the new name. Inimit designed a new logo as well as a simple yet professional website design. Upwards of a 150 attendees needed to be able to register for the event and pay for their tickets without causing too much overhead on managing the processing of orders.
Solution
Inimit rose to the challenge and deployed their full suite of customized Open Source products. Starting off initially with a robust customization of a Content Management System to integrate the new look and feel of the theme. Installing and deeply modifying a which Inimit has been deploying for its customer. The project specific customizations of the eCommerce system included a new design, integration of custom order processing stages, custom export functionality of customer names of ticket sales to produce attendee lists, integration of both Cheque and Money Order payment method as well as the PayPal payment gateway.
In addition to the Content Management and eCommerce systems, Inimit recommended that Open Source Events needed to keep in touch with everyone registered as well as those considering to attend. With this recommendation, Inimit deployed an advanced Newsletter system to serve as the mechanism to do so.
After the site was complete a full marketing campaign by Open Source Events and results needed to be tracked. Inimit was called on to deploy a Advertising Management System to track results and isolate which media sponsors were providing the greatest value for future campaigns. The Advertising system was launched initially for media sponsors to place on their website and to be viewed as a remote ad management solution. Shortly after, the system was integrated across the Content Management System as well as the eCommerce store to distill and market pertinent information about the event.
Additionally, a cost conscious Search Engine Optimization process was initiated, involving modification of several Open Source systems to ensure that query strings were minimized and the site would be more efficiently indexed by search engines.
Results
With over 30,000 impressions a day visiting the site and hundreds of thousands of ads being viewed, Open Source Events online presence was confirmed. In addition to the massive amount of traffic the site was utilizing, it incurred a Google page rank of 8/10, something which very few websites achieve.
Ticket processing worked very smoothly as tickets were purchased online and the event turned out to be a great success.
